This Saturday, the ISC is heading on a visit to Galloway Forrest Park and the Scottish Dark Sky Observatory.
We’ll start by heading to Galloway Forest Park – Britain’s largest Forrest Park. The park boasts tranquil valleys encompassed by heather-clad hills, rugged rock faces, burns cascading down majestic slopes and the forest, moorland and lochs rising up to the grandeur of the mountains. The park also has an outstanding variety of wildlife, giving you the chance to spot Red and Roe Deer, as well as different species of birds of prey.
After the forest park, we are heading to visit the Scottish Dark Sky Observatory. On our way, we will take a small hike over Glessel Hill, which offers spectacular views of Loch Doon. At the observatory, we will take a small tour of the facility, which includes star-gazing, if weather permits it.
